
Soprano Angela Gheorghiu, who announced last week that she was canceling several engagements at the Metropolitan Opera, has contracted a rare and potentially career-ending vocal ailment. It is believed that she contracted the disease, known as caprahircusitis, while visiting her parents’ sheep and goat farm in her native Romania. The Cereal List has obtained a recording of Gheorghiu singing the “Habanera” from Carmen during a recent rehearsal, which demonstrates the unsettling effects of this very unusual condition.
